Zeal for Your House Consumes Me!
This powerful message confronts us with a sobering reality: the worldwide church has lost much of its reverence, honor, and holy fear of God. Drawing from John 2:17 where Jesus cleanses the temple with righteous zeal, we're challenged to examine whether we've become too casual in our approach to worship and God's presence. The sermon explores how Jesus brandished a whip and overturned tables because His Father's house had become a marketplace—and today, we are that temple. The Holy Spirit dwells within us individually and corporately when we gather. Yet how often do we hinder worship through judgment, criticism, distraction, and casual attitudes? We're called to remember that the priests of old entered God's presence with fear and trembling, following strict purification laws or facing death. While we're now covered by Christ's blood, we must not forget we're approaching a holy God whose eyes are like fire and whose voice sounds like many waters. This message invites us into deep self-examination: Are we more passionate about politics and social issues than the Kingdom of God? Do we spend more time on entertainment than in prayer and Scripture? Are we zealous to protect pure worship and create safe spaces for new believers? The call is clear—we must clean house, both individually and corporately, removing anything that defiles our worship and witness. When we redirect our zeal toward intimacy with Jesus, righteous living, and spreading the gospel, we'll see God move mightily among us.
